New Here
am new here and was recommended by a friend from group therapy. Who am I? I struggle with that since I was medically discharged in October. I was put out after 18 years with no retirement and a disability payment for the Army for 5 years. I have been unemployeed since then as well. It's been frsutrating and depressing. I go to group therapy for PTSD and I am the youngest in my group. Everyone else is a vietnam vet. I understand the feeling of not being worth something and having apurpose. I have been trying to do activities to keep busy. I belong to the VFW, I have started writing, do civil war reactments, and do horse back riding for recreational therapy. Thats is my story to date and I hope to meet new friends and learn from others here. It's nice to be where there are other people that dont judge and can relate to what you are going through. I think part of the reason for the divorce of my first marriage was due to PTSD.

Outstanding Dutch! Way to break the code. Glad to have you onboard. Hearing what they did to you at 18 years gets under my skin. Welcome again!

If you don't know already here are some good starting point: In the Media section watch "You're Not in the Forces Now" it may be long but it is excellent!

Hello dutch
I also feel young when I go to the va even though I am in my forties. I am usually 20 younger than the next youngest person there. Some of those guys look like they are civil war vets. So I feel out of place at the va

That's how I felt when I started going to the VA as well. Now I'm there. How the hell did that happen. :ROFLMAO: Just lucky I guess.

So if you need any thing just ask, that way you will not be bombed with pompous posts
