Hi Abby Frog and welcome. This is a great place for support and healing and ideas on how to heal and self sooth. I have felt like you are feeling right now, and sometime still do. The good thing is all things pass, for a while at least.

I hope there is something you can do that will comfort you today. A cup of tea, some great music...something you know from the past will make you feel a little better. That is what I am doing at the moment.

Here is a [DLMURL="https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/threads/unhelpful-thinking-styles.13778/#post-174045"]post[/DLMURL] that really helps me when I'm freaking out, anxiety running high and basically terrified like I'm still being held captive.

I find that I think in these ways a lot. I have to work at recognizing these thinking styles so I can squash them. I feel a lot of relief when I look at this page and realize that what I am afraid of isn't real/realistic/accurate... it's just a set of beliefs which were established during an abusive and neglectful childhood. I'm not limited or restricted in the same way... I am free because I am an adult. Even as an adult, these thinking styles continue to box me in, so I need to shut them down and replace them with a more flexible, open, accepting, compassionate style of thinking about the events of my life, past and present.

You're not alone. You can begin to manage your anxiety. Welcome to the forum.
 
Abby Frog I am so sorry to hear this. I hope you can find some answers or other who can relate to make you feel better.

This forum has been a blessing to me and their are so many wonderful people on here. Good Luck Hun I know anxiety can be extremely overwhelming and maybe talking to someone or even some form of medication can be helpful. I take klonopin and it helps a lot when things get bad.

You are safe here, you are in the only place where we all understand each other, one place where no one will ever judge you, and will try to help each other every time it's needed.

I'm a sufferer myself, I have been suffering from PTSD for three years now but only two years ago I've been diagnosed with complex PTSD.

It varies and every-time it comes in different forms, so you always feel new about it. But the good thing is, you realize how strong you are, you realize how good you can actually cope with the whole thing. Ad what's even better, is that it goes away.

It is just a temporary state of body and mind. That's how I like to think about it.
