New Here
I am new to this site. I had been doing really well healing from abuse I remembered when I had whole new memories of a new layer of abuse about 3 weeks ago. I have been in constant anxiety attacks and constant nausea. I am absolutely miserable all day long and can't seem to get a break. Sometimes there are triggers but many times it is just generalized anxiety that will not turn lose of me. I don't know how I can continue to stand this. I have tried Ativan which either puts me to sleep if I take enough to handle the anxiety or doesn't really work otherwise. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Hi TCS,

I guess the first question to ask is - have you talked to your doctor about this? Are you currently seeing a therapist?

With regards to the Ativan - you said it either puts you to sleep if you take enough or it doesn't really work otherwise. Hmmm - how much are you taking that it puts you to sleep? And how much are you taking that it doesn't work otherwise? Benzos can be split in half. Also, from my experience with them, is that if you "allow" them to put you to sleep, they will put you to sleep. Instead, you can try to do something calming while taking the Ativan to keep you busy but also not stressing you out.

Best,
Rachel

Welcome aboard. There are many things you can do to help ease your anxiety without drugs or with using less. Meditations. Breathing exercises. Walking. Talking to someone about what you're experiencing. Listen to soothing music. Call a friend. I know some of these aren't practical all the time; but some of them can be adapted for work environments or being in public. You certainly don't have to answer, but are you in therapy? If so, your therapist should be able to help you learn some of these techniques. I know they all sound easy, and really aren't. But they are simple- simple and easy are not the same thing. And it takes practice and patience before you begin to see results. But if you DO practice, you WILL get positive results. Not every single time, granted; but some relief is better than nothing, right? :) Good luck. I will think good calming thoughts for you. red

linasmom and redtriskell,

Thank you for your responses. I am in therapy and have talked to my doctor.

I am having flashbacks and dreams and just really off balance right now.

linasmom, thanks for the info that if I let ativan put me to sleep it will. I will give it a try again and stay busy with calming activities to see how it goes.

redtriskell, my therapist is trying to work with me on all of my body memories and doing some calming things. I will try some of the things that you suggested.

Just need to get a break in some of this so I can catch my breath!
