New Here
Hello, I am new to this site. I hope to get some relief from what has been going on for some time now. I'm not sure what to say on this site about myself yet. I have been a police officer for ten years. I was involved in a shooting a little over four years ago. I have been suffering from symptoms for quite some time now. It seems they are getting worse as time goes by.

Hi Cal.

Much welcome to the forum. I generally don't have a ton of time these days to hit the 'What's New' button, glad I did today so I could see your post. I'm a little goofy about police officers, one day will get myself arrested due to my knee-jerk impulse to run up and hug every, single one I come across. Pretty sure that would a no-no, so have refrained. WAY too long to get into, just were a major part of being the proverbial Good Guys way-back-when.

I can't state this definitively ( or imagine I just spelled that correctly ) but would have to guess there would be other officers with your trauma issue(s) who are members here, actively or no. Sometimes it's very helpful to read what others have been going through. For one thing, gosh, you just don't feel so God-Blessed ALONE with the pain and for another they probably have been on some healing path you might find helpful, you know? I'm awful at navigating sites, even this one which I've been attached to for a few years ( pitiful, I know ), but perhaps try combinations of words in the search thingy ( hee, see? pitiful ) to locate various threads associated with your trauma.

You don't have to post anything you don't feel comfortable about, or at all if it feels dreadful for now. I'm sure someone who knows a lot more on how this place works will answer your post and be a TON more helpful, just thought I'd at least say hi and welcome.

Do take care, Peace to you,

Anni

Hi CAL,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum! :)

Definitely take your time and post as you feel comfortable. This site has a lot of information that I hope you find helpful, and the support of the other members is invaluable as you work on healing.

Take care.

Debbie

Hello, Cal - I hope you are able to get some help by coming here. There are some good articles and many wonderfully supportive people, and nobody will ever accuse you of whining or feeling sorry for yourself!

Hi Cal and welcome to the forum!

If you haven't already read them, Anthony's articles at the bottom of the home page are MOST helpful and informative. (Keep scrolling, you will get to them) If you have specific questions the sufferers forums are a great place to post. And this is a very searchable site - and old posts are often as helpful as new ones - feel free to read EVERYTHING. You never know what will turn out to be a key for you.

Wishing you peace and healing.

Thank you Anni. I'm hoping this site will help. Kind of reaching for anything it seams.
