Our Pets

My dogs are extra nice to me when I am not feeling well. They bring their favorite toys and leave them next to me :inlove: On some level dogs really understand how their owners feel - hard to describe because its one of those things that once you experience it you just understand each other but without the complication of words.

I wonder if maybe he alerted me to something that needed medical attention

When I've had my surgeries, I've had various pets pay more attention to me afterward. After my first ICD surgery, while I was all bandaged, my kitty had to come and sniff the area and gently touch it. When I had another surgery, my dane had to lay right next to me. Of course it was on top of the couch like the kitties do and I was afraid of her falling on me. Thankfully she didn't. My cat Sparkles will follow me around yelling at me if I am not doing well health wise and won't be content until I am laying down resting or sleeping.

They say some dogs can sniff out disease. And, if you think about it, there are service dogs that can predict a seizure or other things that you need to be aware of before it happens.

Pets are amazing creatures. I can't believe that there are people out there that think they are "just" animals. My pets are definitely family. A much more loving, caring, non judgemental family at that.

Movin On I could not agree more with you. Total acceptance. i have to spray my cat Loki with a water bottle to keep her off the counters. And yet she is so forgiving. My husband does not like her on the counters. If it was up to me I would not care. She is a housecat. She stays inside except for the rare times when she ventures outside. She wants to explore but is afraid. I am afraid that she would not know how to take care of herself if there was another cat around.

Off-topic, but that's how I think it's going to be in Heaven, everything will be known and understood without the need of one word to be spoken.

Kira is so cute! :) My guess would be that Doozer did alert you to something that needed medical attention. For one, like Britt said, service dogs are trained to predict seizures and other things! Amazing! Also, since they say that everything that exists is energy, then it seems to me that illnesses would give off a negative kind of energy and maybe Doozer felt it.

My animals are snoozing. It is sad that we can not take them with us. To them this is just another day until we leave. They hate being left home alone. We will bring them some treats home with us. They will love that.

Okay, my nativity has been up for weeks. Today my son's kitty knocked two characters over breaking them. Those kitties are so not on my nice list. Naughty, naughty kittens.

Here's a poem about naughty kittens:

Three little kittens they lost their mittens,
And they began to cry,
Oh, mother dear, we sadly fear
Our mittens we have lost.
What! lost your mittens, you naughty kittens!
Then you shall have no pie.
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
No, you shall have no pie.

The three little kittens they found their mittens,
And they began to cry,
Oh, mother dear, see here, see here,
Our mittens we have found!
Put on your mittens, you silly kittens,
And you shall have some pie.
Purr-r, purr-r, purr-r,
Oh, let us have some pie.

The three little kittens put on their mittens,
And soon ate up the pie;
Oh, mother dear, we greatly fear
Our mittens we have soiled.
What! soiled your mittens, you naughty kittens!
Then they began to sigh,
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
Then they began to sigh.

The three little kittens they washed their mittens,
And hung them out to dry;
Oh! mother dear, do you not hear,
Our mittens we have washed!
What! washed your mittens, then you’re good kittens,
But I smell a rat close by.
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.
We smell a rat close by.[1]

This is my cat, Mackenzie. She always seems to know when I need a little extra attention and comes and sits on my lap when I am really lonely. She never used to do that. She was a rescue cat from the SPCA, always gentle but would come close enough to pet or brush but never get on anyone's lap. I have had her for about 4 years now and it has just been since my surgery in November that she will get on my lap without me having to pick her up.
