Person i know says mental illness isn’t real.

I have to block this person out of my life. He continues to go on and on about how mental illness is demonic. When I say anti psychotic medication takes my voices away he then says just trust the Lord.

Ppl Church is supposed to be there for the hurting. He has always said that maybe I wasn’t a Christian to begin with.


Not that he said it that way but that’s the way it comes out to me. To Him the answer is that it’s all demonic. And he even almost convinced me that I wasn’t saved. I haven’t met with this person in a while because everything is too over the top.


That’s why I like the church I’ve been to since 07. Their compassionate and show great love for those who are suffering.

Some of those bible thumpers are the most judgmental people on the planet. I know a couple of them who are so rude to people and are the biggest hypocrites around.

Keep looking for a healthy church near you. Look for ones with recovery ministries. They get that mental illness is real.

I am working with someone who is deeply involved in a church right now. I cannot believe the things that she is telling me they are saying to her! Who needs an inner critic with these types around? Seriously! It isn't bad enough that she feels like shit as it is. These people have to tell her she doesn't love jesus enough, that she is doing bad things that displease jesus, that she isn't praying enough, or well.... I mean NO words of encouragement.

I keep wondering how jesus lives in them when they are bashing her around so much. It is so wrong.

I have been going to church my entire life and have never had anybody tell me that all I need to do is beleive hard enough and all my problems go away. Honestly the Bible doesn't even teach that. (Paul asked for the thorn in his side to be removed. God said no, that his grace was sufficient for him . Paul said he would praise him anyway while he sat in prison. You know that story @sonicwhite ?)

Yes I’m quite familiar with that. I’m not saying all churches do. But this particular man says the Bible is all I need.

He is hyper religious. The Church I’ve been going to never shunned me for anything I was going thru. They didn’t understand but always encouraged me to go.
