I think back to when I came home on my last mid tour break and had to go through the airport security at my first stop in Canada and I had this guy with a towel rapped around his head saying welcome to my country. He started giving me the third degree on what he wanted me to take out of my pockets and to take my shoes off. He treated me like he own the country, once I got through I turned to him and said welcome to my country!! I wanted to grab him by the neck and give that towel on his head a pull. the little f*cker couldn't even speak english.
Sorry for going off but it just pisses me off that they come here and can be security graud well it is their brothers and sisters trying to blow shit up around the world.

Abt five years ago I flew back to the US for my fathers funeral. The customs agent asked me very rudely "what are you doing here?" I gave him a look like death and replied "going to my fathers funeral is that OK with you?" All this while he looked at my US passport. He looked a bit embarrassed, but hell. I wanted to kill. When got out of the airport I saw a bunch of homeland security guards goofing off and smoking. I knew it wasn't my country any more. The cows were out in a big way that day/ lots of anger released.

THINGS THAT CIVILIANS FORGOT!!!

REMEMBER THIS

... It is the veteran, not the preacher who gave us freedom of religion.
It is the veteran, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of press.

It is the veteran, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the veteran, not the campus organizer who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the veteran, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the veteran, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

It is the veteran, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag.

I thaught this fit all allied forces. If it bothers anyone please ask Anthony to take it off. These words are strong and a little bit hard for me I wouldn't even let Seren type them for me. TEX

Besides that I heard roo tail is delicious. TEX

Mate, a Woomera is a spear throwing device. It just gives it extra distance. Kangaroo Tail, mate you can buy Kangaroo meat everywhere now. You make your way to Australia, and give me a yell. I will get you up to my place.

This is great! I've seen it before but always enjoy reading it again!

I prefer to not think of things like that. The world is built by all of us.

I know for a fact that modern civilisation is dependant on truck drivers, garbage men and sewage workers. Without those things, well we would starve and die of horrific diseases.

I prefer this

When You Go Home, Tell Them of Us and Say;
For Their Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today

Kohima Allied War Memorial

I am also a big, big fan of

In Flanders Field the Poppies Blow
Between the Crosses, Row on Row,
That Mark our Place; and In the Sky
The Larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below

We are the Dead, Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In flanders fields

Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch, to hold up high
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though the poppies grow
In Flander's field.

But my all time favourite poem that inspired me is this one.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

The nature of the poem is phenomenal. The man who wrote it did so after he had both legs amputated because of tuberculosis. It was done without anaesthetic, in filthy conditions with the wounds sealed with hot pitch. He went on to graduate from Cambridge. The poem is etched into Nelson Mandela's cell. I remembered it from school and it is a amazing thing to remember. It still moves me no matter how many times I read it. I feel its better than demanding acceptance form others (much as I would like that).

Found this rapper on facebook I heard about back in Iraq. I dont usually listen to rap music but when songs speak to you it doesnt matter what the genre is. Here are a few lines from the song "Happy Veterans Day" by SGT DUNSON

this song is dedicated to the ones that went to fight
to the ones that came back, to the ones that didnt, to the ones that are still fighting this war every single day honestly thank you
Happy veterans day shit who am i kidding
theres a million guys that wont make it home this christmas
thank you for acknowledging what i did
i just wish i could give a dad back to those kids, a wife back her best friend, a homeless vet a clear head
but i can only be happy that im not dead, that i didnt lose both my legs, that i didnt get pumped full of lead, that after my wife left i didnt jump off that ledge but happy veterans day, happy veterans day, happy veterans day
I went to fight for a country that dont give a shit about me, a 100,000 of my comrades homeless on the street, cant remember the last time i got a good nights sleep, im waking up to bad images, my bullets on the sink, my mind cant think, but happy veterans day to me, ill hold this honor till i can buy me something to drink,
sit on a park bench and reminisce bout the war, sit there thinking what did i go over there for.
Happy veterans day............ shit

I dont know maybe you have to listen to the song to get the effects of it, but it seems pretty powerful to me, and my friends seem to feel the same way about the war too. We signed up as kids at the age of 17,18,19 and got robbed of a normal adult life. Then we come home and nobody seems to care about it anymore. I havent been a civillian since i was 17. I got into trouble when i was 17 and went to a military academy ive been out of the marines for almost 4 years now and im still holding that rifle it feels like to me. I dont know maybe someday I can drop the bitterness but i dont see it happening anytime soon. Not a day goes by were i dont say SEMPER FI, think about the firefights, my friends that died, all those poor helpless children I seen hurt and killed. Everyday I relive the war im tired of it already. Im 25 and I got some years to go, dont know if I want to deal with this shit for the rest of em though.
