What's the theory behind 'service animals'?

I don't think we have them in the UK yet.

My dogs aren't trained but Max is very empathic and knows when I'm in trouble.

We dont have a dog, but our cat is very aware when hubby is ill. She will tap him gently and just be at the side of him for as long as he needs her.

She will even come and tell me if he is in bed and having a nightmare. Not leaving me alone until I go check on him.

I'm on my own tonight and both dogs would not leave me alone. In fact at times I was being squished by both gorgeous dogs.

Even now, they are waiting on the bed for me to log off.
