I served with all 4 services (TAD type stuff, schools etc, and of course FMF) and each had their job, respect em all, one job I wouldn't want (the 5th service during wartime) is a coastie on one of those 110' cutters... they go the same bad ass storms we did on the Guam at 500 feet long and probably 60 feet from the flight deck to the waterline... all cuz of some stupid guy in a dinghy who went out with a storm warning in effect...

and ya its the ones who talk about all the bravery and skills they have that are the ones who lie... the people who really did it don't wanna talk about it too much in public...

I met a Seal once, he didn't say much at all, just clapped his hands, I mean flippers together and ate an awful lot of fish.

Anyone in any force who thinks they are above anyone else needs to pull their heads in.

Ok, so before this blows up and I get slammed ...when I said, 'he is probably a freakin' supply clerk', I did not mean to offend. .....

Caft cocker, you didn`t. You brought a bit of perspective into your post with the "bragging" and "respect knowing we all need each other" and all.

I just don`t like the way Tim Cake said..........
Just another REMF.

In the Brit Army. Even the REMFiest Clerk, can offer his services (providing his mother unit is willing to spare him) to fill the gaps in other units and do front line work like pounding the ground with any Inf or armoured front line Unit providing he has the balls to do so.

Yes we get the gob shite`s who talk a good fight, but have probably never fired a round in anger. I have met enough in my time, and as Granpa said, you can smell the rat most of the time.

I am all for Inter unit piss taking. F*ck I am normaly one of the first to have a dig. I just don`t like generalisation when putting some one down, because it tars others who done their bit and paid their price.

Whether the guy Raven is on about was there or not, and wether he did it or not, doesn`t matter. The fact that he is bragging about killing kids makes him a waste of space and a w*nker that I wouldn`t even piss on if he was on fire.

I can't remember the times I would come out just at daybreak to preflight the aircraft only to find the Crew Chief or a propman, ect. asleep on a bench seat in the aircraft, having worked through the night getting our bird ready to fly. I soon learned just how many people it took to "keep em' flying".

I have a different perspective having grown up in the military. It takes a hell of a lot of "REMFs" to keep those planes in the air. And if anyone drops the ball, people get hurt or killed. There's really no such word in my vocabulary.

OK, once again I'm out of it. I feel like I'm living in a box. :ROFLMAO:

What does REMF mean?

I was a Marine, we didn't use a lot of acronyms. I believe we coined the phrase; 'keep it simple stupid'.

The REMF comment is about the "kill-talker"

Realy? You trying to put the load mouthed bullshitting Dick Raven is on about in the same draw as Me Tim?

A lot of us REMF`s volunteered to do frontline with Inf, and Armour to fill the manpower gaps they would have and ensure by doing so that they would stay a reliable and formidable fighting force!

Kinda like me saying all US military are a bunch of gunho, loadmouthed John Wayne wanna be`s, who are too busy being trigger happy to actualy Recognise that what they are shooting at are British Squaddie`s!

Some of us REMF`s earnt our Wings and daggers, and the respect of the multiple`s we went out with like the Rifle`s, Argyll`s, RIR and the Hussars as well as RA on the streets of NI, the hills and valleys of Bosnia, and even the Deserts of Kuwait and Iraq.

Just call him a dick and leave the Tar and Brush at home.

Nothing to do with you. Most of the "kill-talkers" have never been under fire -- hence the REMF comment. My apologies to the thousands of support folks who gave their all to keep the combat arms folks in the fight.

A REMF here in Aussie Land is a Rear Echelon Mother f*cker and was derived from WWI and WWII where the Rear Echelon was a safe place. And you would hear the REMF's in the local bar talking about how many people they had killed.

To me they are like the people that say they have never been scared in battle.

With me I know my adrenaline went into over drive and everything was automatic, but the 'Pucker Factor' was extreme. For those who don't understand, the 'Pucker Factor' is how tight your arsehole is and mine was so tight I could have turned coal into diamond I was that scared.

Who really wants to remember kills? I'd rather forget them and all the BS from combat. What I do LIKE remembering is the brave and brilliant people who worked with me.

What really gripes my ass about my fellow Viet Vets is they were all S.F. Seals, Recon, Beret and so forth. I read a report once where there were about twice as many Vets claiming to serve in Nam that actually did serve in Nam and all of them were S.F.

Hell, if we had that many in the field at any one time we WOULD have won the war that the politicians lost for us.

One of the millstones around my neck is that many of the CBU "bomblets" we dropped, didn't go off. So I may very well still be killing people. Not a thing I'm very proud of.
