But you just have to brush it off and chalk it up to "that's the way it is" and move on. I used to pack things like this down in my psyche until it looked like a layer cake and then carry that crap around with me all the time. That's probably why I flunked my career and society.
We feel deeply about things and therefore hold things close to the vest but that's exactly the opposite thing we should do. It makes the beast a far more complicated animal and all the more to come to grips with.
Once I got old and slow and shit was leaking out around the seams, I said the hell with it and it ain't worth dieing over. I let it go. I developed a "could give a shit" attitude about most in life except for helping my fellow Vets. That IS worth the effort.
Oh, I still have it leaking out around the seams but not letting it eat at me was worth developing the attitude.
