I've often heard that people who have suffered abuse in their childhood have no memories or very little memory of their childhood. What if you have a lot of memories?? I seem to remember a LOT of my childhood...both the good and the bad. Does that mean that it wasn't really abuse, or that it wasn't that bad? I don't think so.
In contrast, my T has very little memory of her childhood & says she was not abused so I guess maybe it just depends on the person.
I guess I just don't really think that having no memory vs. a lot of memories has any bearing on whether or not there was actually abuse. I dissociated a lot as a child & still do, but I was still able to remember a lot of things. Any thoughts?
