Scary Drone

So yesterday there was a drone flying outside my window. I have no idea who it belonged to or what it was doing. At first I didn't think much of it -- I live in a tourist hotspot part of the city and figured someone might have been testing out the drone from the square across the street from me.

But then it sat there for a long, long time, right outside my window. It looked pretty fancy and I started thinking, "I wonder if it's filming me right now."

It was there for a good 30 minutes, hovering. I searched outside and couldn't see anybody controlling it. Nobody seemed to be paying it any attention.

Am I weird for being really freaked out by this? I thought about it all night and it still alarms me today. In the back of my mind the most terrifying thought was that my psycho ex may have rented it out and been spying on me. But I know that's just paranoia.

I would have called the police. Drones in my opinion, are a violation of my privacy when they enter your yard. Sitting outside your window, IMO, is a violation of privacy. They have cameras onboard...

Yeah, I thought about throwing something at it but then was worried it might belong to the police or some private security company or something. I'm in an apartment building, so it wasn't invading my yard or anything. Was just hovering outside my window. Which I guess is strange enough.

That's a really strange thing to happen. I'm not sure why anyone would feel the need to send a drone to your window. Unless..... Maybe it's the Americans.

The embassy staff may not have gotten the memo about the Soviet Union collapsing years ago. So they're just checking to make sure you and your son aren't communist sympathisers, that once you are back living in the US you aren't planning to send back valuable information to the KGB. :rolleyes:

I don't mean things like nuclear weapons or troop strength, none of that boring stuff. I mean the real secrets... Such as:

• The cost of diapers, formula and pablum.
• Whether a big mac made in the US tastes better that one made in Ukraine.
• If any US citizens know that Stalingrad and Leningrad are now called Volgagrad and St. Petersburg. And that neither of them are in Ukraine.

That kind of stuff.
I hope nobody figures out that I'm on to them.:nailbiting:

that is odd but then i guess we all have to get used to the invasion of new technologies.

I think that it lingering near your window would constitute a privacy invasion over here in the uk, but that would depend on it actually recording and locating who owned it.

I cant imagine it would be cheap to hire one so probably just a random person having a fly about. I like you though would be going through a long list of thoughts to worry over.

If you see it again then contact the police. of course should you just happen to be throwing something out the window at the exact time it happened to fly past I am sure not a lot would be done about it, very hard to prove intention.

Well, Iam being stalked and such a drone would not be good news. So if someone accidentally steers such a drone over to my place, then a stone would accidentally be thrown to down that little spy machine, illegal, unlawful, invasion of your privacy.
