Thank you so much for this! My fiancé is a medically retired combat veteran and we've been frantically trying to get answers to the seizures. He recently had an EEG during which he had 3 seizures but they basically told him he was lying because they didn't register. I was floored! I know he's not lying I've seen them! I've called the squad and had him taken to the hospital. The paramedics have seen him. It just blows me away! And all they do is increase his meds and add more. For me enough is enough. No more meds I want answers and it has somehow led me to this board and I couldn't be more thankful! You can bet I will be going back into the VA with more knowledge and wanting answers instead of meds! Thanking God that we are not alone!!!

Yes, seizures are now much more under control for me but I had them regularly (many times a day) during the worst part of my PTSD rekindling. I am currently waiting for an FMRI. I am hoping that will show something concrete. Pseudoseizures is what I have been told they are as well. They occur instantly and without warning but I have now learned how to clue into the signs (dizziness, not then cold) so that I can try to get to a safe place. They have restricted what I can do in life incredibly. When they started 7 years ago, I could find nobody else or no reference to what I was experiencing. Thank you so much for starting this thread.

This thread has been so helpful. M y mom told everyone I was making up the seizures, this makes me feel better in that it is a real thing, not just me being nuts by myself. What do people do when they live alone? I seized and blacked out last week during mother's day and got my head all banged up,but I don't want to walk around with a helmit. I am curious, has anyone utalized a service dog for this and if so

I would honestly love to have that option @austint and have heard very good things about it but they are cost inhibitive here so have people that surround me. When I am alone I be very careful where I go and sit still on the couch if I feel my gross motor controls going. Very best of luck to you.

Drug change & anxiety Grrrr! Signed Off work so all not well. Lasted a few mins, so exhausting!!! This was a mild one, but one all the same... :'( had a bath which helped but so so low now...

Ohhhhh @Maggiemay! I so feel you. It doesn't seem to matter how long they last does it! Just sucks the living life out of one. Good idea about the bath. It is good to know about the drug change. It is possible others could consider this as a cause. Can you rectify that? Will you doctor switch up the meds do you think? Hugs.....

I've had two seizures in my life. Once when I was around 4. Once when I was a junior in school, it was only 2 years ago. I remembering walking to the counselor's office to talk about college, and I had this dream. I remember this crazy dream, I was screaming obscenities, and people were holding me down. Lots of F bombs and anger, such anger, and I remember thinking it was a odd dream.

When I awoke in the hospital I was confused. WTF was I doing here, they told me I had a seizure. Hospitalization goes by in seconds compared to other periods of my life. When they told me the stories of the firefighters holding me down, and how much of a fight I put up when the EMT tried to take my blood pressure. I shortly realized it hadn't been a dream. I was literally fighting for my life... I hadn't realized who they were.

My counselor told me that I had better take care of myself. I pushed myself too hard, too much pressure, and that probably caused it.

If I have another seizure I have to go into intense drugs for epileptics, and for that two years I will be treated like a epileptic. They never found anything wrong, and they did a MRI. I went to OHSU a very fancy hospital around here, and they couldn't figure out what went wrong. I even had a day long EEG.

I will make sure to remember this hotspot theory. It might save my life in the future. Thank you so much for telling me about this.

My 28 yr old son was diagnosed with PTSD & is now having PTSD related seizures! I am trying to find out info on the relationship between the two. He's on meds for seizures & had applied for long & short term disability as he can no longer work or drive at this point. I'm so worried about him. Any advise on how to help him?
