Starting a diary for myself

My take is that if you’re not in a stable position right now, it’s not the time to be writing...

I've tried coping skills but they are not working now. Nothing is really. I didn't have much "education" about ptsd, my symptoms and how to ground myself or cope with stuff.
I will wait with the diary.

How long did you try the coping skills?

Breathing didn’t work for me for the longest time, but now it works for me every time.

The same goes for meditation. It took me a very long time to master (my version of) meditation.

Many skills are like this. We have to work at them over and over and over again to figure out which ones work best for us, and to figure out how we can tweak them to suit us best.
 
Maybe if you read around here, you will pick up some ideas that help
If you get clear on specific issues that you are struggling with, maybe try asking specific questions in the appropriate forums?
That way people can help you in a more specific way with the things you are struggling with.
Go easy with the trauma diary too, it can really stir things up, so make sure you're emotionally supported for that. "Exposure therapy" is only beneficial if we are receiving support to process what comes up as a result.
 
What you describe in your original post are the symptoms of ptsd. It's ok to avoid it. There's a reason you avoid it. Go slowly and be sure you feel safe, very safe in your exterior life. If you have anything going on that is unstable that is not a good time to push through and write it down. That is an excellent exercise, but if you avoid doing it, it's ok. Therapy isn't necessary until it is necessary. When it's necessary, you'll know that too. Our brains are amazing how they take of us. Eventually you will be able to do it, or find a trusted soul to ride out the journey with you.
