Hi everyone. I'm hoping this site will be helpful. I've been experiencing chronic anxiety and panic all my adult life, but recently it has been amplified to a nuclear level. I've been very sick for 15 months. The trauma of three surgeries and many complications, has intensified my PTSD. It's causing problems in my marriage, my other meaningful relationships, my recovery from addiction and every other aspect of my life. The memories of the traumas that triggered the PTSD are so vivid and I often dissociate and lose time - sometimes days. I just heard today that they finally placed me with a therapist. (I've been waiting since the 2nd week in November). I would like to be here to offer as much support as I take. Right now to keep myself calm I color and listen to music all day. The hyper-focus helps for now. Anyone who feels they can be of help, please give it to me straight. Thank you.

Hi @TurtleRock and welcome to the forum! I am sorry to hear that you are struggling so badly just now, but great to hear that you will soon start therapy. I would expect that to make a huge difference to you - and your relationships too. Therapy is hard work - but in my opinion well worth the effort!

Hi there! I think you will find much encouragement and wisdom here and do hope it helps you! wow, you have been thru a lot and are obviously strong with still hanging in there! I am proud of you! I would say something that has helped a lot of people with ptsd and anxiety is this: Take magnesium and ginseng dailly, and you will find it calms your spirit mind and body and improves sleep. The ginseng gets rid of sticky negative thoughts that loop around too. I am so glad you have a therapist and pray they are great and help a lot! If you lose them, remember many churches offer it free and have professionals on staff. Music is a great outlet to lose yourself in and let go of fear. Also, audio books that are light hearted and fun are awesome! I even go to sleep listening to them on low and timer if I can. A fun cozy mystery series I just love and listen to over and over is Miss Fortune Mystery series by Jana DeLeon. they are great! So funny and light hearted. There are many others too. Keep on trying, you will overcome! Then you can help others if you aren't already. Those who know can help others. =)
