Thank you Sarg.

You said it perfectly. I've heard the question time and again. "What do we do". The answer is go on living. Catch a fish. Take a long walk in the sunshine. Hug someone you love.

AND, on the off chance that ISIS picks you, Grab the scum bag son-of-a-bitch, rip his throat out and shit down the hole.

In light of the recent attacks here in Canada, there is on line petition to allow CAF members to carry concealed weapons both on and off duty for our protection and public safety.

Thoughts?

I think its a good idea, but someone always has to screw it up for everybody else.

I don't watch the news much anymore, but that was on every channel and in your face and now we will hear about it for a month, followed by anniversary after anniversary, yet a military member dies fighting the same type of people and we will hear about it for a day and no anniversary.

There's a 140 kids killed in Pakistan right now from a terrorist event happening, and that is getting a few minutes of airtime here... two people die in a coffee shop from a hostage negotiation and it runs near constantly with dedicated coverage. Go figure...

Agreed.

They have something like that going in the US too. Instead of locked and loaded, you should be able to carry without the mag in & keep the mag in your pocket. When you enter a billing, you need to go to the clearing barrel. Simple just like the ol fob.

I agree with the whole Pakistan deal. But people could care less about Pakistani's(imo).

From Lillabeth, ".....carry concealed weapons. Thoughts"?

I have a CWP and use it regularly. Should everyone? Hell, I don't know. But, I'm certain I'm qualified based on my training and experience.

Every community where extreme violence has occurred had a police force and laws against improper use of deadly force. Yet, the tragic events still happened. Point is there aren't enough police to guarantee public safety at all times and in all places. Individuals may find themselves in situations where they have no choice but to defend themselves.

I'm prepared, and plan to stay prepared.

I have a permit to carry. I don't carry anymore. The reason I don't is that I fear being shot by the police more than from some 'nut' or criminal. In a situation where I would need to defend myself or others there's as greater a chance that I'd be shot or killed by the police. The truth is that carrying gives one the illusion of safety. Unless you have your weapon in hand and at the ready the real likelihood is that you won't get the chance to use it.

If I had to go to areas that I used to work in the city, when I did carry, I might again but only in certain and very specific situations. This is only my opinion here and I'm not telling anyone what they should do in this regard.

I'm on the fence with getting my CCL still. I already did the class etc, got a packet set to mail in or w/e.
Probably pretty suicidal one would think to be walking around in a combat engineer hoodie with out a weapon.
