Why's that KP
Last months book was chick lit, not I think your style, could be wrong and you are a soft fluffy chick lit kinda guy:bookworm:. This book, from comments you have made with earlier books seems more you. Time to get back into the book club saddle Mister, I've missed you.

So, when I picked the book up, apart from it being described as a thriller, I had no idea what to expect. I didn't expect a post apocalyptic road type story. With groups of 'junkers' roaming the countryside killing whoever they come across and trying to avoid 'the hungries' who are infected by a virus which turns them into cannibals. If I had known, I probably wouldn't have read it. If it is ever turned into a movie, I will not watch it. I hate watching things like this and would end up watching from behind a cushion:bag:.

As it was. I loved the way the story was told and the characters. I was drawn into the book.

SPOILER ALERT

First you have the children and Melanie. The interaction between Melanie and Miss Justineau, also the other teachers and military staff. I found the way the children were experimented on by Prof Caldwell abhorrent, cutting into their brains whilst they are conscious in the belief that they don't feel pain. When it came time for Melanie it was apparent she was fully aware.

Melanie was saved by an outside attack which destroyed the base. The only ones to get away were Melanie, Miss J, Sergeant, a soldier and Prof Caldwell. The road trip from hell as the group tried to reach the only main city left. During the journey comes Melanies realization that she is a 'hungry' but she for the most part is able to curb the cannibalistic tendencies, Sergeants gradual trusting of Melanie as she helps them escape groups of hungries.

Melanie finds more children like herself. These children are cannibals but don't act like usual hungries. Prof Caldwell manages to capture one of the children and dissects his brain. She realises that the vaccine/cure will never come and that the children are the future.

It is a long time since a book gave me nightmares, but this one did.

I am sad for this book can not be read in my country, due to none being in library supplies.

Time to get back into the book club saddle Mister
I wish... I barely have time free nowadays to read in actual relevant PTSD and symptoms texts. I have four current books, latest on PTSD, complex trauma, depression and some behavioural psychology stuff... all of which I need to get through, think about, post anything new and interesting that has changed in PTSD.

This kick in the pants from Google advertising is consuming all my time pretty much at present, trying to work through relevant advertising solutions for here. It's hampering me massively right now.
