It has been a while since hubby had really bad nightmares and flashbacks of his accident, but they are back with force at the moment.

They started on Friday night, and have been going on since then, it is now Monday.

They could have been brought on by all the good stress of the last few weeks, holiday, having our grandchildren while my daughter gave birth to our 3rd grandchild.

They were so bad at one point he had to have strong essential oils on, just so he could shut down and sleep.

What ever the cause, or just PTSD raising its ugly head and reminding him that it will bite him when least expected.

What ever the reason it is wearing him out just now.

Last night was nightmare free and he seems to be much his old self today. He seemed OK this morning so I have left him alone for a few hours.

Not sure how he will be when I get back, but I do need the break now and then. So I am at the carers office manning the phones. Though as you can tell they dont always ring that much on an afternoon.

Well today went down hill after a good start.

I left him at lunch time in reasonable spirits with plans to go see his dad while I was out then down to the pub for an hour to see a friend.

He set off to see his dad but turned back half way there. For some reason the closer he got the more anxious he became. So he brought the car home, had a cup of tea then went to the pub.

He said he could feel the anxiety building on the way down, but was determined to go. he managed an hour then came home again. Not feeling too good, but again made himself a mug of tea and went and sat outside.

He was aware of every noise, car driving past, was checking he was alone very few seconds, tot he point he came inside locked the door and went to bed.

he was in a rough way when he got up after I got home, but again went outside to see if it was just a one off. Nope he sat there and got more and more anxious, but did not run inside, he sat there hoping it would pass. It didn't, it just got worse, and has now gone to bed with oil on hoping to sleep for at least a few hours.

Something has set him off, but we cannot work out what. I did suggest it could have been having our grandchildren at short notice last week, but he said this has been going on for a few weeks now, but is getting worse as time goes by.

Hopefully the CBT therapy he will be having soon will help him deal with all of what is going on.

Amethist and H my heart goes out to both of you. I am so sad that you are having to suffer and endure this awfyl ordeal. My prayers are with you both. Sleep is very important as you well know. Hope you do not have to wait too long to get this addressed. Big hugs.

So much for being distracted by films, he is back in nightmare mode after a nap this afternoon.
