I'm so hypervigilant that every brush against my body by something else causing me to react as if protecting myself from physical pain.

This "state" is so alive right now and every time it happens the terror is so real.

I don't know what to do about it. Some kind of invisible monster is terrorizing me.

I don't get a visual flash back or anything just a goddam physical protection response and heightened emotional state.

Sorry you're going through that!

I'm experiencing much of the same thing right now. I've begun to treat it like dissociating, I wear a chime ball or meditation bell to keep me present and aware. The sounds helps calm me and keep me feeling... in control?

I haven't found a way to "shut off" the hyper-vigilance, but I find a warm blanket or bath + some warm soup or beverage helps.
Warming your body seems to have a fairly large effect on the hyper-vigilance for me. I wish you the very best of luck and if you figure something out, let me know!

I took two different anxiety meds last night and today am feeling a bit more normal. If I weren't in so much physical (not psychosomatic) pain I would have tried a weighted blanket but it simply wasn't the best idea at the time (I didn't have the capacity to even lift one onto myself).

It was so real and so terrifying. Lasted hours. Even just laying alone in bed I felt like a child part wanted to burst out crying because they were so scared.

I'm terrified of coming within 5 feet of other people. Grocery shopping is the worst. Work sometimes distracts me and I forget about it.

HUGS! That's horrible!

This is a bit embarrassing but I honestly have a few stuffies that I sleep with on days like that. Being able to hug something close and unload all of your icky feeling is just... soothing as heck.

I was in the hospital today (for dehydration) and realised that warm blankets are extremely under-rated. I was mid hyperventilation anxiety attack, I was to the point where my face was numb and tingly. It was a bad scene. A nurse piled a few warm blankets on me and it was more effective than the 2 MG of Lorazepam. I'm making a habit of throwing my main sleeping blanket in the dryer for a few minutes. I highly suggest it.

I hope everything gets better for you! If you need someone to chat with, I'm on almost daily. Best of Luck!
