Trauma Diary: How Did You Decide?

Deciding to do an online diary was done for a couple reasons

Thanks for sharing, Leighlee! That was very helpful, very insightful. I'm pretty sure i'm going to start one now, and have my art journal (in which I do a fair bit of scribble writing to "get it out", as well as art) and an online journal as my primary means of expressing myself. I will start slow, and just post what i'm comfortable with. I don't feel any pressure to do it one way or another, i know everyone has their own reasons and personal style. I've really appreciated hearing about everyone's process. Thanks for responding!

I can't do a dairy because of the legal ramifications that may arise in my head. That someone may use against me in some type of manner. Since my divorce, my ex has tried pushing all my buttons to get out of alimony. So l walk carefully and realize nothing is truly safe on any site. But l wish you success and hope this fills a need of letting out the pain and continuing the healing process. I suffer from control and trust issues daily, though they sit on a lower shelf these days, but they never leave me, and l think about it 24/7.

@aut555, as a former family law attorney, that sounds prudent to me! You have to watch out if your ex is looking for ways to discredit you. I hope you've managed to find other outlets for yourself.

I've had to think hard about how I would feel if someone I knew, someone I work with for example, or a member of my family, were to figure out who I am. I'm still weighing that, but on the whole I think it's worth the risk if the reward is great enough (but I don't have little kids to worry about anymore!)

Thanks for responding and sharing your truth.

Thanks, @digger, for clarifying the premium trauma diary. I think, in that case, I would probably just do one members-only diary and leave it at that.

I rarely use it but I have found that the private premium only diary is really good for things that you need to work out that wouldn't be allowed in normal view of other members.

So, for instance, if you are really having an issue with a (or several) members and you really need to type that out to work it out for yourself, that would be allowed in the private premium diary. So, though I rarely use it, it has been of some help with working out my own issues surrounding things like that. A thread that really triggered you. Things that would really not be allowed or be discouraged in view of others.

Also, if you want feedback, you can tag joeylittle and she does the best she can to help. So if you need a back and forth dialog about something that is not really appropriate on the forums, that would be a great place to do that. Opposed to messaging her, which is discouraged normally (like on MOD signatures and stuff).

I mean, you can open a help desk ticket too and JL has been great with helping in private messages. I am just saying that private place has some vaule is all.

Thanks, @lostforgottensoul! That is really helpful and a unique way to look at it. Maybe i'll start there, and just see how it goes. I'm just worried about losing track of everything and winding up not really utilizing any diary, lol! My art journals are the only form of diary I've ever been able to stick with consistently. Actually, for about 9 months I used an app called Symple, to track symptoms 4x a day, plus the diary feature. That was quite good, but I got really off the routine and haven't gone back. Thanks for your input and insight.
