Relationship Update (potentional Cptsd W/husband - 20 Yrs Together)

We share a lot from what I have read - so you are not alone.

I too have been with my hubby for 20 years and we have 1 son - although he can be a trigger and can pish hubby over the edge.

I wish I had some answers for you - well for us both.....

Its great that you hubby is working still and depite the stresses of this he can focus on other areas. I do hope that we both get closer again to our hubbies - not many people (even without PTSD!) can say that have been married for such a long time and I hope that this will help us both,

Thank you, Sunshine. The counselor feels that he has 'non combat PTSD' (or a cousin of it). That term was per the counselor. Husband was not boots to ground, however, he is in aviation and was deployed for aviation combat missions. Then, went on two deployments with them. The most recent just returned and was extended additional month beyond remainder of his squadron.

He hasn't felt right for three years now. The timeframe coincides with the duration that he was in this squadron. This also includes the deployments or types of dangerous missions coupled with the toxic people and enviroment that he was working in.

Regarding the toxic enviroment, the stories that he has shared this week, they blow my mind. I can not believe how disgusting people can behave. He often played an advocate role. This may have been related to intervening with a junior airman who had personal property stolen by someone in their chain of command. This could also have been helping an airman write a grievance for sexual assault. He also intervened on two suicide attempts. He carried a lot of mental weight. It's broken him. It sounds like every other day, there was something major going on around him. That could be directly or indirectly.

It is very comforting to connect with other women and wives, who have been in long term marriages. This page has been such a help this week. I will be donating next pay period! You all have helped get me through. I do not think that my family would understand. My friends are associated through our military community. For husband's protection, I do not feel that I can freely speak with them. I'm stuck. However, I have you all and our Christian counselor.
