My traumas were primarily early childhood through teens and I've been a gamer since out first Nintendo. My gateway drug was Super Mario Bros. with a smattering of Duck Hunt. Now games of choice are usually Fallout: New Vegas, Skyrim, Sims 3, and sometimes World of Warcraft. Also Words with Friends, Criminal Case, CSI, and Panem Rising on Facebook. ... gamer all the way here.

@OneWing Thanks for the tip! My current computer isn't exactly gaming friendly, but I'll consider upgrading to a gaming PC when/if my economy gets a little better :)

I love playing Proteus. It's more of a wandering simulator than a game, but it's really relaxing. There's also Eidolon, which I haven't played as much of, but has a little bit more of a gameplay element.

I've had good luck with those games, @WildMermaid, with the exception Sims 3, which I haven't played. Being able to quickly save and load is helpful, no forced checkpoints. The frustration of having to go back and replay the same part again is almost a sure fire trigger for me.

I've never been a gamer, and this hasn't changed since diagnosis.

I have played games since Atari 2600. lol When lonely, I have often used them over the years to have a harmless "escape" from reality. I introduced Nintendo to my late father, who started enjoying it's golf and fishing games. It helped distract him from his manic depression and alcoholism. My favorite types of games are role playing games, where I can really immerse myself in another world. My favorite titles are Fallout 3 & Fallout: New Vegas. Looking forward to Fallout 4, due out later this year. But, unfortunately, I don't have an Xbox One yet. 3023794647_e706436b96.webp

I've always being abominable at FPS type games (and really every other type as well) so they have never been a problem, but I've found RPGs like Dragon Age and Mass Effect can be quite empowering, since you play as the universe's biggest badass/hero who can make choices to save people (or not) in ways that really make a difference.
