Grateful to have power/phone/internet restored after two days without it. (it still keeps flickering on occasion) Also grateful for my overactive what ifness brain that helps us be a little more prepared for times like this. All those weird looks my husband gives me when I say, "One of these days, we're going to need this (generator/kerosene heater/camp stove/coleman lanterns/etc., etc.). Trust me." are turned into, "Wow, you were right. Damn glad we got that." moments.
Everything came to a halt....no stores open, no gas stations open, no street lights working, and the ones that were open could only accept cash, and people seemed to be much more mindless than usual in their interactions with each other. Cluster f*ck describes it more accurately. So many trees and lines down. So much damage done to homes and vehicles. Grateful for all the linemen/tree companies/shelters/emergency personnel/etc.
Fire on one coast, ice on the other, and all sorts of shit in between. Be safe, be prepared, and be kind. Shift is happening at more rapid rates than usual, it seems. Shit can hit the fan in many ways within a day, as many of us know all too well. Although a big dose of fertilizer can certainly help things grow, it still stinks. Grateful for the perspective shifts and the continual chances to keep on keeping on.
