What does my body do when I lose time? What is "in charge" during that?

Just one note. You can have epilepsy and still have normal EEG.

How and what can i do to find out?
I am on epival. I had a seizure last week thats why i been offline recovering. Feel so trapped at times in daily life trying to do basic things fearing it will BAM. Its good to here.

I have seen 6 neurologists all with different sub specialties. The last was epilepsy neuro and he said its likely stress induced non epileptic seizure i was having or possible narcolepsy. I disagree with narcolepsy cuz it says they wake up refreshed...whereas i wake up burnt out heavy tired altered hearing, difficult speaking. Walking feels like a heavy jacket is on me. Vision is blurry for days. Super tired.

It be great to find out. for now do calls them "spells"

One thing I learned is that sometimes you just don't find out. I struggled for years wondering - are they seizures or is it dissociation or something else? This has been the case with just about everything I've been diagnosed with - some doctors agree, some don't.

That said, it'd be nice to know so they can treat you, right? And so the episodes (what I called mine for years) stop. I had abnormal brain activity only with a certain type of EEG lead and have been told by several neurologists that, unless you're having a seizure, it's possible your EEG will be normal. I did have a generalized convulsive seizure years ago, but that was due to the toxic level of an antidepressant in my system.

I was on the same meds, except under a different brand name. Does it help? I've been on many different meds, but recently I found one that stops my current seizures altogether. I was on another that worked for a long time, but it's really an awful drug. Non-epileptic seizures will not respond to epilepsy drugs...if theyre truly stress-induced, antidepressants, antianxiety meds and therapy are the most preferred ways to treat them.

You can have seizures and still have a normal EEG because they were not at the time detectable-but to distinguish epilepsy from psychogenic epilepsy, the EEG is the gold standard. You can also have both types of seizures......epileptic and psychogenic. In the field of neurology, there are exceptions to most things.

Doc ordered sleep deprived EEG with the flashing lights and strobes. Report said normal, no epiletic patterns found. It also reported increased Hz.... not sure what that means.

I recently been losing time quite frequently nearly everyday. Counselor says its disociation.

Hmmm. I'm sorry to hear that. I have a thing with flashing lights where I am sensitive to them but I'm not sure if that's your issue.

That's how I most frequently lose time-and I have epilepsy. It's an initial cause for concern if you are already diagnosed w seizures, but there is, in my case, more awareness with dissociation than seizures because I have feelings that go with it. This is not true in the case of seizures-they just are.
