I’ve taken 16 different psychotropic medications in the last 10 years. Or at least, there’s 16 of them that I bothered to write down. Different strokes for different folks.

Venlafaxine and zopiclone for sleep. Have been on fluoxetine, sertraline and mirtazapine and respiridone in the past, this one works best.

Makes it worse, in a nutshell. There's absolutely zero evidence for it being helpful. Like alcohol, it can numb symptoms - but unlike alcohol, it's got psychogenic properties, and while science isn't sure yet exactly how THC affects mood disorders, there's enough evidence to know it's likely to exacerbate the problems rather than help correct them.

Currently, for MDD:
Wellbutrin and Venlafaxine (shoutout to @flowerapple, same combo)

Currently, for sleep issues related to PTSD:
Low-dose Neurontin (Gabapentin) - as needed

Previously, for MDD:
Duloxetine (Cymbalta), Abilify (aripiprazole), Lamictal (lamotrigine), Celexa (Citalopram), Topomax (topimirate), Latuda (lurasidone).

For anxiety related to PTSD:
Klonopin (clonazepam), Ativan (lorazepam)

For sleep issues related to MDD:
Restoril (temazepam)

For sleep issues related to PTSD:
Minipress (prazosin), low-dose Seroquel (Quetiapine), low-dose trazodone

@joeylittle - the meds you’ve trialled seem really light on atypical antipsychotics. Is that for any specific reason? Or it just hasn’t been necessary?

It’s interesting to me that so many people are on venlafaxine, which I tried in a couple of different combos.

One of my current meds is desvenlafaxine which, like it sounds, is an updated, modified, but similar med. The big thing for me was the very different side effects, which are much milder for me, but also more tolerable.

Thought I’d throw that in for people who are finding benefits from Effexor but hate the side effects.
