Me, too! I'm studying a few languages, but I just discovered the chess and I really like it. It's been forever since I played, and it's good for a refresher.

The hardest part about playing chess for most people is thinking several moves ahead, for creating strategy and misdirection....

My father just left for a trip so I have his PC with good GPU all to myself, I don't know for how long but I'm sure for 4 days at least.

I'm going to use this week to play some of the things that I had always wanted to at least try, like Cyberpunk 2077 and Kingdom Come Deliverance.

Because I have nothing to do in life anymore (given all that's happened to me in the past 5 years), I need to at least try all the things that I had always wanted to do. To move forward emotionally.

Did you know the “queen” in chess was originally one of the WEAKEST players? Worse than pawns, or the king. But when the originators of the game showed it to Isabella (Queen of Spain, WARRIOR QUEEN of Spain, responsible for the “Reconquista”) they IMMEDIATELY redefined the queen as the most powerful piece on the board??? (Survival? Is a thing.)

If you like chess? You’ll prolly adore Tafl. It’s kind of in between chess & Chinese checkers.

Tafl was THE strategy game, for over a millennium, that chess (with its uber powerful queen) supplanted. Chess is more mathematical, whilst Tafl is more personality.

I got to 8192 on the game 2048 . Idk if it’s possible to go higher! It was a game I had going for a few weeks. Would just play a little at a time.
ETA: it is possible to go higher. A “perfect board” is where every tile is a double of the other up to 131072
