Thought of another one...

Going to go to the hardware store today. Hardware stores are one of my absolute favourite places on earth... Like libraries and being in nature, hardware stores are a perfect PTSD-antidote for me... Somehow the whole "DIY" spirit of hardware stores makes me feel empowered and strong and like I can build stuff and change stuff and make stuff happen and have tons of choices and can make "anything I can think of" - which are super excellent antidotes for PTSD feelings of "helplessness".

I love seeing all the amazing tools I could buy (tools for things I've never even heard of) and all the little bits and pieces and gadgets and things... To me it feels like a huge store full of "solutions to problems" and "tools for creating stuff".

If I ever win in the lotto, a huge part of that will be spent in hardware stores :roflmao::)

I love watching the show America’s funniest home videos. Especially the one showing pets. You can watch them online and I laugh every time.
Yessss!!! :)
I have not watched that in ages... but you are right... those videos are so ridiculous and goofy and stoopid and funny, they cut through just about any negativity...
When I was younger I used to get mildly triggered by it, seeing ppl get hurt when they fell off things, etc... but eventually I realised that the makers of the show edit and select the videos carefully so that it's actually a case of "no humans or animals were harmed in these videos" and now I can relax when I watch them.
Most of all I love the ones where I think OMG D'ohhh that has happened to me before tooooooo":roflmao::bag::confused:

I go online and watch mosithe funny cute pet ones.

My favorite ones are when a dog sees the owner come home and goes crazy licking and jumping all over them running in circles.

My dog does this when I’ve been gone for only an hour and I love it. Haha!

One of my pet sitting clients had this brand of scent diffusers, car diffusers, room sprays, and hand creams and I find they snap me right out of dissociation or lower level anxiety. I spray a room with them before I sleep and if I have nightmares I have one by my bed. Plus when you order them you get two free small vials that are travel sized. They’re all these weird fancy smells I would never put together but the multiple notes on them and sides to the fragrances. Antica Farmacista. I get them on sale but the room sprays are HUGE for a good price.

J would say fishing, fishing and fishing. As a matter of fact he just said "I'll take this little shack on this little lake over those big houses in (insert affluent neighborhood here)". He said "it's better than therapy". He spends hours making lure's and setting up different lines. I thank the Lord we found this place when we did.

XO

Sorry about your bear, @LanaD.
I actually found buying a couple of stuffed animals to be really healing.
I'm 26 and an indie punk.... and I sleep with two teddies. Works for calming me down after a nightmare too.

Smelling something pleasant like a flower or your favourite perfume or coffee or something. Or if you need the big guns ~ smelling salts! They smell so bloody horrible it properly snaps you back to now.

Imagining the neighbour's cat curled up on my leg.

Progressive muscle relaxation & a learn to speak German audiobook- helps get me to sleep pretty well.

If someone has annoyed or hurt me ~ hoping a bird poops on their head.
