I don't know, although a quick Google search to see what Eurovision was led me to believe Australia is a part of the European Broadcast Union. Looks like Israel has also competed dozens of times.

But nobody made you do it. We, the UK, have to join in and be thrashed every year.

I used to hold a Eurovision party every year, with European food from as may counties as we could raise. One more thing I miss.

Apparently Australia have a huge Eurovision following and were allowed to compete last year as part of the anniversary celebrations and they went down so well they were allowed to stay.

No, we are renowned for getting "nil points" . It has been suggested that is because we send the whole thing up.
