Yay!! I found a school here in CO that accepts students of all ages. My dad and I will be moving out to the suburbs in January and he will be getting a cheap car with the money saved in rent. It's one of these. I will still take the GED as soon as I turn 17 and start community college, but this will be nice in the meantime. :)

Why wouldn't other schools accept you?
b/c of your age?
pls clarify
I currently live downtown and the main public school is loaded with a lot of ridiculous graduation requirements and is kinda in the inner city. I didn't want to get involved with all of the bad social stuff either. The Sudbury school that I plan on going to in a couple weeks includes kids of all ages from kindergarten to twelfth grade. I'm doing this until I'm done with high school, and then I'll transfer to community college when I'm old enough. The community colleges don't allow anyone under 17. :)

Is this Sudbury school only for the gifted or is it open to ave. IQ students as well?
It's open to everyone, including those with special needs. I imagine the teachers will be more understanding about PTSD for that reason.

I might be a good student, but I would go still insane if it was an honors type of school, lol. I was way ahdead and doing that with my online homeschool stuff awhile back, and I felt like I wasn't learning as much anyway. Going to the Sudbury school will allow me to continue studying on my own (with the help of others, of course) and still get school experience to show on my college applications plus social skills.

That is great! I've never heard of the Sudbury school but I liked what I saw on the wiki link. I hated doing the AP classes in high school. Basically the point was to get in to a good college. High school was a LONG 4 years... It sounds like you are really taking charge of your own education and I admire that.

For someone 46 and getting their degree, I commend you highly on going back to school. I'm in community college but will transfer next quarter to a 4 year to finish out my degree in Criminal Justice-Homeland Security Intelligence and minor in Sociology/Political Science. You're never too old or too young to go back to school. I'm SO PROUD of you!

Thank you! My first day starts Monday. Their schedule is really flexible, which is great for doing other things throughout the day. There's a really big art room, cooking area, and library that I'm free to use at all times (as long as they're open). They're one of the very few schools in the country that are like this, and 90% of all of their graduates go on to college. And they even let me take my own lunch, books, and stuffed animals!
