Hi all!

My fatigue seems to come in cycles...every few months I get severe bouts of fatigue no matter how much I rest (sleeping 9 hours) and eat. I've been struggling with it these past few days again. From sunup till sundown, I am drained; everything feels like an impossible feat. Does anyone else experience this? What could it be from? Are my adrenals just overly taxed? (I steer clear from caffeine). I am still in therapy for my complex-ptsd.

Hi,
I felt this way when my PTSD was really bad. I would constantly take naps and always feel so tired, even when I would sleep 12+ hours. After my therapy ended, it went away as I was dealing with it a lot better. For me, it just felt like a symptom of the illness. I still have a very odd sleep schedule (I am a bit of a night owl) and recently I have started to feel this way, albeit milder, again. I have a lot of stressors in my life (mostly college-related) right now, so that could be it.

Thank you for the reply!
College was extremely stressful on top of the PTSD, so after I finished my associates this past year, I took time off. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!

From what I'm experiencing, there are two forms of fatigue: physical and mental. Your body may well be refreshed from sleep, but your mind isn't. I've had to learn which is which. If your dreaming a lot, or having nightmares, it's only your body that's getting recharged. Is that happening to you?

Its very common with PTSD for the adrenal system to get flat laid out at times. Stress takes high tolls on ur system. Do ur best to keep ur stress levels down. Find ways that work for u to stay centered and that'll help immensely. I too have felt how u do and it's miserable. Once I started to refocus and push thru which was like moving mountains..I decided I needed to come first. What was best for me. Not others or what they think. Take care of u and be the best u that u can be! Good luck!
