Comical, Humorous and Deescalating Comments for Unhelpful People's Unhelpful Opinions about PTSD.

I think there should be a prize for the best one. And I think I may have already written it.

When you get over, me not getting over it, let me know and I will start working on getting over it.

Cheeky I know! :sneaky:

I know, I know I should get over it because well my friend had her head eaten out by zombies. Then she was decapitated by rogue elves. They had to elasta plast her head back on with lots of band aids. You won't be able to believe how many. Then she got stabbed in the eye by a misbehaving unicorn. It doesn't worry her and she doesn't have any problems so why am I complaining? I mean she didn't get PTSD. Really I don't know what is wrong with me?

What would you consider an "unhelpful comment"?
I think people are all unique Illmaketea but the most common ones that will get up everyone's nose tend to be about moving on, not thinking about it any more etc (PTSD is exactly about not being able to as according to the brain it is happening now and not in the past), comments about it only being combat that results in PTSD and responses where people indicate they have the same symptoms from having a challenging day at work or not being able to find a babysitter. I think because it highlights to the person with PTSD how totally other people do not get the symptoms. It is also very upsetting when people who have experienced traumatic situations and yet have not been traumatised by them do the whole, "well I am fine so why aren't you?"

@Ms Spock
For me, "...my life in your head..." runs on three levels.

Level one: the folks who go on the longest -and meanest- about how to fix my life are the who seem to know the least about me. Their assumptions are based on information that makes more sense in their minds than in my life.

Level two: my life does not work in your head. Get real, would ya?

Level three: end of discussion. Subject change, please.
