Wellbutrin Xl No Appetite

Currently taking 300mg Wellbutrin XL. I've lost about 15 lbs in past few months. Not complaining, however I am not significantly over weight or anything.


I had a piece of toast this morning & I literally can't eat anything else, other than drinking some juice & coffee. Anyone else experience this ? Thanks

I haven't tried welbutrin, but I got this same side effect from Effexor.

Starting a couple weeks after I first began taking them, I began to notice that I was slowly losing my appetite. I was eating smaller portions less frequently. After about 3 or 4 months I lost my appetite entirely. I had to force myself to eat.

Then it actually got worse if you can believe that. Couple months after that, it was all I could do to eat anything. Food began to be repugnant, the thought of eating it was nausea inducing. I could no longer force myself to eat, I stopped eating all together.

After about two weeks without food, I quit that drug. After a few more days my appetite started slowly returning, once the drug was out of my system, my appetite went back to normal.

That's interesting. I've been taking the Wellbutrin XL a few months now. Though I have noticed lately I am getting indigestion a lot more frequently and barely have to eat anything for that to happen. Luckily I am still able to eat, other than that no negative side affects.

I have had severe issues with most of the anti-depressant meds I've taken over the years.

My system just doesn't like them very much.

Out of everything I've tried, Elavil is the only one my body hasn't outright rejected, and I've tried quite a few.

How long does it take to start working? I just started Wellbutrin XL 150mg on Friday.

@Leave me alone, in my experience you'd start to be aware of the side effects before the positive effects; it can take 5-7 days to notice a mood change.

I take the same dosage as you, and I have the same problem. My appetite is minimal and I usually have to consciously force myself to eat. Much smaller portions than I did before (like, wtf Wellbutrin, did you shrink my stomach?), and if I overeat, I feel nauseous.

For me personally, the positives outweigh the negatives though, which is why I've stayed on it for a year.
