Anyone Know About Paxil And/or Effexor For Ptsd / Anxiety?

I was told then that the highest dosage they could put me on was 60mgs, and that any higher was NOT recommended. I know many drs today do prescribe 120 mgs, I would be extremely cautious on going up that high..
Very brief side note: I was on 180mg for four years, give-or-take. This is not to say that everyone should take that much - it just was the therapeutic dose for me. At the time I was prescribed it, the thinking was that 120 was the highest one would need to go. I don't think that was true in my case.

Medications really do have different effects on different people. I'm not sure why you would have been told that above 60 would be not recommended for you; there could have been any number of reasons, I suppose.

@joeylittle She said, (if my memory serves me correctly) that at higher dosages it can cause liver damage. At the time, my kidney function wasn't 100%, so adding possible liver damage, that's the reason she told me 60mgs tops. And actually, I was on the lower dose of only 30mgs for the 4 yrs I was on it.

I have a schedule conflict at the moment but, if can get that worked out early Monday morning, I will have a Wellness visit with my doctor on that day, as well as a medication review with the pharmacist. *(Unfortunately, I am looking at a 2-week minimum before I can see my psychiatrist for psyche med. management).

I have sensory sensitivity, (to several things including chemicals and so), I tend to respond to lower doses of meds than some folks might, so I don't know if I would need to be on a high dose of any medication whether it be Cymbalta or another medicine. Will discuss with my doctor when I get to see him/her.

I've been on Effexor for roughly a year now. For me personally it caused insomnia that was also paired with an inattentive psychiatrist. Other than that my experience was okay. I'm currently in the process of coming off the medication.

Had to reschedule meeting with pharmacist due to illness and doctor had to reschedule due to her son being ill. So the plan is still in the works but, has been delayed.

A close relative of mine is periodically on Effexor for bipolar depression, and it works marvelously for him.

I was on Effexor for a month. Screaming, throwing things, crying. Rages. Threatening people. Not for me.
