It's rained so much in the past 24 hours that half the country lanes have turned into lakes.

Temperate rainforest. 10 months of cold rain (mist, fog, & drizzle) and 300-340 overcast days per year. We don’t see the sun, much.

Say hi to big foot...

Big Foot is a series of perfectly reasonably dressed gentlemen from the east coast, who thought an umbrella and overcoat would suffice. Pfft. Our rain blows in all directions here. Not just down. Grunge? Isn’t a fashion choice. It’s just what happens to fashion in the damp. It shreds, and droops, and dangles from you in wet clumps, it moulders. Locals know to layer and tie it off to dry in pieces. Visitors clomp about howling and moaning, looking for the dry cleaners, a taxi, or a decent pub, (none in evidence) creating the legend. ;)

@Zoogal. Yep. Home of the Gortex Sombrero. The only place in the world I know of that makes Scotland’s weather look cheerful.

Where I am there's supposed to be about 3 feet of rain and year, though the past few years, the neighbouring valleys got it instead of this one. Some of the hills to the west get about 10 feet of rain annually.

I was once looking at jobs in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea, and some of the places get an average of 40 feet of rain a year.

It's clear views of glaciers in the mornings, then the clouds form and it's fog and torrential rain from late morning until late at night, every day:whistling:

I couldn't live where I can't get outside all the time. I just can't.

You can usually get out, its just that some days it's a question of "are we enjoying this yet?"

It's not like places where you're risking your life with extremes of temperature, or predatory and poisonous critters (2 and 4 legged). You wouldn't want to be out in a white-out, especially in places where there are open mineshafts or frozen reservoirs, but we don't get many white-outs.
