In adition to multiple TBI's, longterm noise exposure around jet fighters. Continuous tone, sounds like a jet fighter ideling about 2 blocks away. When i worked in a noise and vibration laboratory, i used some equipment and a sound stage to characterize the noise. It is about 5.1Khz at about 65db. So in a normal environment it fades into the background. But when it gets quiet, the jet sceams in my head. And when i think about it, i hear it. My big trauma involved a jet.

For me it's linked to both CPTSD and my thyroid. If I'm high or low thyroid I get ringing in my ears and then it's constant. On the poll I put occasionally because the rest of the time it is.

I've had it for years. Came on suddenly after a period of severe stress, late nights
and poor diet. Now it's a handy barometer of how much stress I'm experiencing,
how much coffee I'm drinking, and just basically how well Im taking care of myself.
Always one ear, sometimes both, can include irritating tones at times too.

I have it too. Sometimes intense and worrisome, sometimes it´s there but I don´t hear it (not aware of it).
Good to know that it can be related to stress.

I have never been exposed to loud sounds (other than my own that is) but I´ve been knocked in the head a few times. I almost always wear earplugs which perhaps can add to it. Not sure. I have other stress symptoms like teeth grinding and allergic skin reactions.

I have this sometimes and yes i was slapped around in my face and had head injuries as a child and was pulled to the floor by my abusive father grabbing me by my pony tail too. My abusive mother would do the face slapping. I was punched in the face by my father once. Head injuries were in car accidents.

A little bit. It comes and goes. At worst I get 30 second intervals 2-3 times a month.

I think it is genetic though because my dad has it all of the time now. He bought a pair of apple headphones that helps alleviate the symptoms. Cheaper than a noise cancelling hearing aid; in his words. Lol.

I have tinnitus from two things:
Playing a lot of live music in bars and such, with no hearing protection. Same for band practices.
Not using hearing protection while shooting.

I probably have some hearing loss too. All of this happened before I had PTSD though. I've been using hearing protection for a while now.
