but "something wrong with me" is probably not the most helpful way to think about it.
I agree, there is nothing wrong with me considering my circumstances, in fact what my body did and the behavior I displayed were/are perfectly physiologically normal. You have a condition brought about by the exrtreme requirements put upon your senses/perceptions/your brain and your physical capacity.
There is nothing wrong with You as a person, a personality. You wouldn't take youself off to a shrink and question if you were eiher lazy or just really liked being slow and leaning to the right if you'd hurt your left leg.
Your brain is a muscle, your senses can only take so much, your heart is a muscle it can only take so much, your body is designed to take only the occasional large shot of adrenaline, your muscles are designed o absorb and act on that adrenaline only so often. It is not your head, it isn't something you can tell to go away, it isn't in the control of your intellect. It's not about attitude or a character weakness.
I think once you understand how it works on your body you'll let yourself off a whole load of introspection/guilt and searching for the bit that's 'wrong' with you.
If you put super-strength fuel in a car over and over and over eventually it wouldn't run, you could speculate abou he gear box and pull everything apart but it's not the mechanics that's the problem.
