Hello, my name is Harper. I'm 21 years old and I suffer from Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Forgive me if this is too blunt, but I'm terrible at introductions. On December 21, 2007, I was heavily sedated with prescription medication, taken to a place that is still unknown to me, and raped repeatedly by a very close friend and his twin brother. After the attack, I did have the sense to go to the hospital to have the formal exam done, but I never pressed any charges. My close friend, Blake, shot himself several days later and after the funeral, I burred what had happened to me. I never told a single person.

For two years, I pretended it never happened, never told a soul. But it began to eat away at me. When I finally sought treatment, I went through a “guinea pig”-esque cycle of medications, and now a year later, I've finally settled into my medications and I've found a truly amazing counselor.

I decided to join because I thought it would be beneficial to speak to, listen to and learn about what other people have used to cope with this affliction.

To all who've had a bad day, just remember this: “Everything you do in life will be insignificant, but it's very important that you do it, because nobody else will. "

Thanks for the read.

Hi Harper,

It really is helpful to be here, for all the reasons you said. Plus, it's awfully nice to just not be alone with this thing.

Welcome to this place, and I do hope it proves to be healing for you. I'm still mulling over the quote, which I don't quite recognize. It's very nice, although think I won't adopt it as a mantra since the 'insignificant' part just makes me kind of tired before even going to go start cleaning the bathroom in a moment. :)

Take care,

Anni

Hi Harper,

I'm very sorry to hear what happened to you. I am glad you have found this site and glad you are getting help for the C-PTSD. No time like the present to work on healing and wellness. It's great place to learn also from others who are struggling with symptoms of PTSD, C-PTSD, we work together sort of. I like your quotation and it makes a lot of sense about this being our work, no-one else can do it for us. It's a good place to start, with out selves!

Welcome to the group,
~Nishkaa
