Feeling Like Running Away

Paul,

This is what my boyfriend did this weekend. He said he needed time for himself. It is because he is too afraid to be honest with me out of fear? Is the need to run away always going to be there? I am so confused but I love this man more than anything. We have been through so much and I will never ever understand what he went through or completely grasp PTSD. I can only read up on it and do my best to help him. I am just scared that he is going to leave me because he is afraid. Should I let him have this space and be ok with it? Is this something I should expect and put up with for the rest of my life?

I had this feeling one day, so I took off down the road, then took off down the railroad tracks (on foot, I have no car). I went barefoot too, carrying my PTSD Service Dog in my arms. After getting about 8 miles from my home, I decided it wasn't such a great idea, so I found a break in the fence and started back up the highway toward home.

A Sheriff came by and stopped me, told me I could not walk along the highway and brought me home. I guess I got it out of my system then, never did it again. LOL... (Embarrassed now thinking about it, he was sure I was nutz, of course, as he talked to me like I was a child). I have gray hair and am 58, I was probably 57 then.
