Ok... this has been biting me in the arse for years, let alone the last couple of months, and as such the decision really has made itself, yet I've simply put it off hoping the cons might improve or just go away... denial still lives, and the overall issue of this domain having the .com version running ads and basically holding this site to ransom from it, overall has pushed me to make the change of this site to the My Network domain choice of myptsd.com.
Let me remove issues from you, everything will be the same, and all old links will take you to the new location automatically. It won't break anything overall. Yes, there will be some minor teething issues in changing domain name to get everything back up and running correctly, such as chat and site mail, though it won't take long overall. A 24 - 48hr window will have everything normal again.
This is how it will simply work. To move the site requires the database and files to be moved over to the new account. This only entails me to close the site from being posted within whilst the files and DB are changed over to the their new account, permissions rewritten and DB connected to the new name. Sounds hard, but it happens pretty quickly, maybe a half hour or hour, if nothing goes wrong.
The chat and site mail only require a quick change of domain name at the RTMP and a file or two here referencing the domain.
For the rest of years... if you click on [DLMURL]https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/threads/hi-my-name-is-ray.35744[/DLMURL] you will automatically land on [DLMURL]https://www.myptsd.com/c/threads/hi-my-name-is-ray.35744[/DLMURL]. This includes from Google and externally linked sites into pages here.
As I said, nothing will change other than the domain name.
I'm going to talk with ServInt today about it and see what help they can offer me, as the DB is nearly 2Gb and the files for this site are around 15Gb from memory... so they will need to be involved and hopefully can lessen any issues that I may make myself.
I will look at rebranding information such as logo, pages and other such things when the site is upgraded to the next version of software.
