Part 2
We were stood there with hubby smoking his head off because of being so anxious, when a car pulled up and 4 people got out, one with piercing's and tattoo's, a lady with Crystals round her neck, on her fingers and in her ears. Plus 2 other guys, one who was well over 6 foot.
They all called a friendly good morning as they got out, with the guy with piercings and tattoo's catching hubby's eye. As we knew he could choose who he worked with, his decision was made there and then.
They all went in, and hubby just turned to me and said "Come on, I'm ready", so we followed them in and he told them who we were, and that was it, he was off and running. I then met Sharon, the lovely lady who had been sending me e-mails of support and encouragement for the few days before we went.
We were then taken into the kitchen, yea it was that informal, for a hot drink, and to be introduced to all of them. As we were the only ones who had turned up so far, (No one else turned up at all), we informally introduced to all of them, as we all lent against fridge, sink and cupboards.
We were then taken upstairs to the meeting room, wee we were then formally introduced, well all sat in a circle, with them all moaning about the sun blinding us through the window.
Ernie who runs the center then told us that they had all been through some kind of trauma, had all been were hubby was then, and understaood the hurt and pain it caused to families every day. Now they give there time freely to others who need the help, and being failed by the NHS.
Ernie then went on to tell us a bit about himself, how the NHS had written him off as being un-treatable, yet here he was sat there and talking as sane as any man in the street.
He then told us about Ellis the 6 foot guy who was in the car with the others. He had turned up at the center a few years ago not wanting to let go of his car steering wheel, gripping it like his life depended on it. It took 3 of them to talk him into letting it go and going inside, one of them being Adam, who he told where to go because of his piercings and tattoo's.
Now he helps others as he was helped so long ago
He then told us they did not use NPL as some have said in the past, just would gently take him through what ever he wanted, and he was not expected to tell them anything that was too difficult to talk about. confirming that there is no cure for PTSD, but if he was willing to work with them, they could help with the symptoms and help him to be able to move forward to a more peaceful and calmer life.
He then passed Stu a black crystal and asked him to hold it, I suggested him to hold it in his left hand as he had taken it from Ernie in his right. A few eye brows were raised as I said this, more in recognition that I knew about how crystals worked than anything else.
Hubby was then asked to imagine it was getting warm in his hand, the heat then travelling up to his wrist, up his forearm to his elbow, then up to his shoulder, and finally across the center of his chest. Then to think of something that gave him that warm glow, before his accident. Hubby looked at me and I could see he was struggling the think of something just like that. I suggested the time we rode the mountain part of the TT course, 6 weeks before his accident. That did it, a big smile spread across his face, and Ernie asked him to remember that feeling, and not to let it go.
They had him then, and they all smiled knowing he was going do this without any problem.
I do not know if this is how they do it with everyone at first, it was just how they did it with my husband.
Adam, the guy with the tattoo's and piercing's asked hubby if he wanted to work with him, hubby agreed immediately.
The lady who is Adam's partner and called Paula, the one wearing all the crystals asked if she could work with me, as no one else had turned up, she was willing to help me too. The rest of them agreed that it was a good idea, if I wanted it. How could I refuse, as I could feel the love and care coming from all of them.
We all then went for another hot drink and a smoke for those who did.
