How Do You Stop Sadness?

It just seems to me that there are quite a few of us feeling this way and as I told a friend yesterday---it's the FULL MOOM!!

Hang in there 2quilt.

And let us know how that film was too. Thought about making myself go see it today as well. Been a long time since I went to a movie theatre. Over a year. Heard this one isn't too bad and it doesn't sound too intense. (Something like Wolverine, as trashy and hokey as I heard it is, would probably have been too much for me these days!)

Anyways, hang in there kiddo. It won't rain every day.

Hang in there 2quilt. Things can look very bleak, and then a ray of sunshine appears. :occasion: Here's to hoping your sunshine happens soon.

Star Trek was fun! There are alot of references and inside jokes that people who are very familiar with the original show will chuckle at. The younger actors did a great job at imitating the mannerisms, typical speech and facial expressions of the actors from the original show.
DH and I attended what was sold as "the final trek convention" in 2004. We dressed up as Harry Mudd and wife Stella. We saw Scotty almost carried by two handlers to his seat on stage and he sat there with an expressionless face, unaware of where he was or who he was. After about 60 seconds, the handlers lifted Scotty and put him back in his wheelchair. Many of us cried when we saw him so sick. He died of Alzheimers.
The convention was so fun because there were so many people there dressed up in costume like the real actors, living the roles.

2quilt,

I did not know you were on Cymbalta.

This drug I know has worked for some. But when I was on it, I felt as you do now, I really wanted to end it. This didn't stop until I was through the withdrawal effects. Even as I think back on it I still get scared. Please Please asses this medication carefully. It can help, but as you will see below it can really send people into a tail spin.

Here is a web site with over 1200 postings of peoples experience with Cymbalta. Many are good, but many had it rough. It has to be assessed individually.

Please just ask yourself if this could be the medication causing your current mood. If not, than good. But I can't sit back and say nothing knowing how this med can affect people, which is how you now feel. I'm not trying to scare you or others who are on it: Just need to be sure you're aware.

Oh, yes, this is actually the fourth time on Cymbalta. I have tried many other SSRI's and one other SNRI, and I have drug 'holidays', but always come back to Cymbalta because I feel most at peace on it...when it is at the correct dose. I also have known others on Cymbalta and nobody else I have ever known has done well on it. Most people do horribly on it. Our brains are so different. I now have permission to raise my dose (I talked to a psych MD Friday) and so in another few days I should feel much better.

I am grateful to you for caring about me.

Today I don't want to hurt myself, but I feel flat and unable to enjoy and sad. I have had moments of slight happiness, but not a normal stable and productive day.

And oh, hell yes I know all about the withdrawal experience. I have been to hell more than once. But for me, Cymbalta gives me more good days than bad, so that's why I keep taking it.

Your mileage may vary.

I'm glad you've gotten some relief and especially glad you have a good handle on this medication that, like so many medications, are too often prescribe without teaching about side/withdrawal effects. My sister was on a very similar med and it worked wonders for her. Amazing how we're all so different.

All the best.
