How To Get A Job With This Condition

@Go Hungry & @Solara Yet being able to work, has given me more than just financial freedom. It has taught me, and still teaches me. How to manage myself and the way I need to conduct myself in every day life. This particular job has also forced me to work alongside my trauma, and the people who work in that field.

The feeling that you get when you start a job, and keep a job. Is so very liberating. It can bring you so much hope and personal pride. Knowing that even with the deck stacked against you. Even though it is probably harder for you than everyone you work with. You can do it.

The weird thing is that in my case, I (well, everyone in the entire office) was depressed because our former boss insisted on doing everything herself, to the point that there was no point in coming in really. I missed tons of days because I just couldn't summon the strength to go waste my time for yet another 8 hours everyday. Once she got replace, everything turned around. My new boss is the exact opposite. And we have thrived in this environment. It's so good that I actually view it as almost a form of therapy.

But, take it slow. Use the tools and services there to help you. And when your ready. It'll be worth it.

This ^ a thousand times.

One of the very frustrating things is most businesses would rather have 50 people crammed into a tiny office all day practically on top of each other than just letting people work from home and asking them for productivity reports to prove they are getting lots of work done. I worked at one place where they literally didn't care if you did any work ever as long as you were in your seat at 9:00 am sharp. I just don't get it.

I found a comment on another website: "Most modern office layouts seem to be designed to screw with people's fight or flight instincts all day."

I guess managers feel that the "energy" that gets generated by cramming dozens of people into a tiny space for 12 hours per day makes people work harder, but for someone who has a high general level of anxiety all the time, it's pure hell. It doesn't make me work harder. It makes me feel like I'm always on the edge of a panic attack and makes it much harder to concentrate.

DNP,

I had a job once where you'd be reprimanded for clocking in (at your desk) at 9:01.....so OMG, if you got there at 8:50 and accidentally missed the 9:00 minute? That was as bad as being late!

This is why I never want to have a typical desk job. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever......
