I Am Going Back To Work Tomorrow

Build a solid foundation and anything will hold stronger for longer and will be less likely to crumble. Plans (solid and sensible foundation) sound like a much better way to re-integrate CB and I think only 2 twilight shifts a month will not throw your body out of whack so much as the way you first went back to work. I think anyone would get a 'physical' shock from not working for a year to going straight into the shifts you went back to initially.

This seems like a much more sensible, structured and managed approached CB. Wishing you well and another pat on the back for getting back on the horse and not letting this defeat you!!!

I feel silly coming in so late to say properly what everyone else has so beautifully- always miss important things in this stupid fog. I wish you the best also, from across the Pond and through the fog.

I feel like Anni coming in late saying CONGRATS but I know you have worked so hard to get to this point so I am riding her coattails to let you know I think you have done such a great job and one that has not gone unnoticed. Several times I have jumped the gun and tried my best to go the short route simply because I couldn't identify myself as anything but my job and needless to say it hasn't worked.

I see you having done things very well. Thank you for sharing it all.

Hugs,
Rain

I just thought I'd update this thread.

I've now been back at work full time for 2 months. And all is going well :D

My new shifts are working out much better than the old ones.

I'm off all my anti-depressants now, but still take propanolol for anxiety and sleeping tablets at night, but keeping a more regular routine is helping, and maybe in the next few months I will be able to reduce the sleeping meds. But at the moment I'm content, and being on the medications doesn't bother me.

I'm functioning, I'm working, I'm having a social life, I've even embarked on new adventures (joining a band, and meeting new people  I have our first 'gig' since joining the band, at the end of August, which I'm looking forward to, even though it's only a village 'fun day'!! Maybe calling it a 'gig' is a bit OTT!).

Work have some silly rules. Because I was off sick, I'm on a review period until Christmas (which basically means, I'm not allowed to be off sick at all!!). So long as I don't catch any colds, flu or sickness bugs from any of my patients I should be okay ;). The chances of not picking up an infection from a patient while stuck in a very small, confined space with them (back of an ambulance) is pretty unlikely, but all I can do is keep my fingers crossed, wash my hands all the time, and dowse myself in alcohol hand gel!!

My only issue, is some problems with my new 'crew mate'. Basically she never shuts up, is very argumentative, and highly opinionated. In short, she is driving me crazy . I'm not alone in my opinion of her. Many have wished me luck, with having to work with her full-time! But I have confidence that somehow, this issue will be resolved. (It may take until the new year, but there is a light of hope then!).

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and well wishes. All is going well, in general.

Maybe when I make it to 6 months back at work, I'll consider it successful enough to post in the accomplishments and success forum!
