I Want To Hurt Someone Or Get Hurt

I've found hiking up the Rockies and Elkhorn Mountains very therapeutic. Of course anything outdoors in Montana is very therapeutic. On Saturday I was hiking between Bernice and Deer Lodge at about 7500 ft. and almost stepped on a new born white tail fawn. I started backing up and mom started to move in towards me. 200 ft later I was watching some beavers working on their dam. Surrounded by the beauty of the wilderness and the physical effort of hiking in the mountains I felt my anger ebbing. hang in there Wagg.

Glad you guys are finding Montana as great as I have. I'm really happy I chose to go out here for school and readjustment over Georgetown and DC. In the clusterf*ck that is downtown Washington I'm sure I would have wound up in prison by now for assault.

Has anyone else found specific climes, topography etc. that is easier to live in than others for them? Ie avoiding big cities, preferring the beach vs the mountains...

I live in the Helena Valley area on a mountain. I can see the lights of Helena but I don't have to mess with the town if I choose. Of course Helena has roughly 33,000 people. This living arrangement works great for me. I do not do well in cities.
I also enjoy warm white beaches and ocean swimming. However, there are too many people also enjoying this. Being in the crowded beach makes me too uncomfortable I can't relax. I feel I must be alert and on guard to protect the children from drowning because the parents aren't paying attention. Needless to say I don't go to the beaches too often.
So I guess the mountains with open spaces is the best place for me.

Live in rural Germany, loads of fields and woodlands, I walk as much as I can till my back gives out. Love the peace and serenity of the noise of nature. Hard to describe, but I don't feel judged there.
Built up, busy, urban or crowded environments are horrible, what's the term? "hyper vigilance ?" don't come close.

Yup -- big winds. I was hunkered down in my storm cellar. Got scared of tornadoes when I was posted at Ft. Hood -- I swore from that date I would take all reasonable measures against them.

I can totally walk down town right now and pick a fight with who I wish and either f*ck someone up or get f*cked up. It really doesn't matter to me as long as I get to fight as hard as I can. Getting the shit kicked out of you and living is a learning experience, and in what I'm thinking, will be a therapy than going to a doc. The only thing that hold me back is that if I go in deep enough, I may not survive.

Damn brother I know what you mean. It sucks, I feel like a junky needing a fix. Ive got things I do to try and get a handle on it (meds help me) like shooting (when I can afford it) or just flat out beating the ever loving shit out of a heavy bag, or if I can swing it, going deep into the mountains for a few days to get my bearing.

There is a part of us that will always thrive on the excitement of combat, and its probably one of the biggest things that will f*ck up our lives. It sucks, but there are healthy ways to get through it.

riding the adrenaline wave Red... I try to keep it in balance.. and ya keep at that heavy bag and not a real person.. been close to that a few times recently and it took all I had to back off..

you know you gave me an idea... after my dog is ok to exercise (she is being treated for heart worms so no exercise for a month or so) Imma travel up near where my sis lives and camp.... I live in the 5th biggest city in the nation... time to get back to my roots and the simple life... thanks bro, you dont know it but your post was therapeutic...

Agreed 110%. Wrap your hands put on the gloves, and if you use you feet, wear some Jhoon Rhee kick safes -- then beat that heavy bag into total submission!

Does anyone know if I could take Karate or Kick Boxing with a knee replacement ( doc screwed the surgey up). I get tired of beating up on a heavy bag or beating a poor defenseless pine tree with a stick. My version of anger management.

Go to an orthopedic surgeon and get a professional opinion on this matter. You may have to wear a knee appliance while doing a martial art. BTW -- my martial arts practice has helped my anger management issues. It is worth a try!
