And honestly being alive is not as important as producing offspring.

That is a dangerous comment on hear, what if you cannot have children??????

Mohsen I think you are getting this totally wrong, are you sure you are talking about PTSD and not PMT?

The main function of PTSD is to make sure you, and the people close to you are alive and can reproduce.

Rubbish, sorry your comment does not make sense.

And only after considering all possibilities it will decide which situation is harmless and, which is a true threat.
True, but this is a normal reaction, when You have PTSD you can consider a very safe situation to be harmfull, that is the problem for the sufferer, it is a irrational reaction.

error management theory it

Mohsen, this is only a theory and not based on PTSD. Here is an article that might be of interest: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&...0pe7dN&sig=AHIEtbRfd-weUEHLpn5Hn2twhItpCpx_gA

How many women would become the victim of rape again if they didn't have PTSD?

You do not get raped because of PTSD. And I am sure that the person raped in the first place did not put themselves into the position to get raped. PTSD is sadly the aftermath of this terrible crime.

And if you really know the real threat, and you know the ways to avoid it

In that case no one would ever leave their houses. You can understand that there might be a threat, like everytime you go into a bank, there is a possibility that there might be a robbery, but then there is also possibility that you might crash your car, get run over, get robbed, have a stroke, fall over, get crashed into get raped ect ect ect. In that case no one will join up to the army either as we can clearly see the real threats there. People have to take chances and no one asks or deserves what has happened to them no matter how vigilant or on the ball they were or were not.

This will be my last comment on this post as I am finding some of your comment really offensive and upsetting.

Best wishes
Saffy :)

To be totally honest, your view of PTSD had me feeling disgustedly incredulous at the beginning, and actually a little interested and mildly amused by the end.

There's no doubt that some of what you say is true in theory and is certainly an example of lateral, or "out-of-the-box" thinking. If PTSD were merely a theoretical construct and not a real life disorder, then I might even approve of your interpretation of adaptation.

But... seriously?

Still, if I end up living for another hundred years and having 30 children, I promise I'll retract and offer you an apology!!
