Relationship Is Your Sufferer Smug?

Very good and appropriate question @Sweetpea76. Why can't us women be just as great as our spouses? Why aren't you as perfect as your sufferer? It is the least he can expect. I hope you have a good excuse for being anything less than perfect.
(Just kidding you.)

Nope, I don't do smug at all. I ooze low self esteem from every pore. I am opposite of smug.

But maybe what he is doing is how a bully does things? Like a bully puts you down to raise themselves up, right? So maybe he needs to counter his low self esteem with smug?

I don't know, just a thought.

I get accused of being smug both when I'm quietly amused & when I'm exercising a so much self control that if I relaxed it for even a second there would be serious regrets / massive explosion.

<chuckling> I've always sorts liked it when my beaux goes smug. Looks so much like a little boy covered in mud holding onto a frog.

Entirely possible tbh, my (for now) SO has been hyper critical of me since entering her PTSD spiral, when I get over the hurt it causes I've often felt like perhaps the fact she is getting criticised left and right and by herself too it's a way of raising her own self-esteem to say "yeah well, you have all these flaws so there!"
