Welcome to the forum Chw....I am so sorry to hear of your losses and the pain you are in. You've found a great place of support and information. There are others here who have developed PTSD for similar reasons as yours and those of us that ended up with it for different reasons still understand the pain and struggles PTSD showers us with.

Visit the wiki pages for information that will help you understand PTSD and the various processes to learn to control our symptoms. Starting your own diary on the diary board would be extremely helpful too. Read the sticky at the top of the board first. Writing your diary will be hard and triggering, but it really does help overall to make sense of what happened and ultimately helps alleviate you symptoms.

Welcome again to the forum!

Welcome chw52!

I am very sorry to hear about the trauma that you witnessed. It sounds absolutely aweful. It is difficult to be dx with something that is so misunderstood. I truly hope that you will find peace and strength here to help you on your journey.

I was dx a little over a year ago and it's been quite a roller coaster ride. My PTSD originated when I witnessed an aweful accident that involved my sister receiving 3rd degree burns over 60% of her body by falling into a tub of scalding water. She was 2yrs old and I was 4yrs old. I thought she was going to die and I thought that it was my fault. My PTSD went untreated for 35 years. I understand the pain of lost friends and family because I have had the same thing happen.

Clay-

I have my diagnosis from a similar situation, although not children and not from a responder's perspective. I was involved in a fatal accident where I essentially watched the other driver pass on.

There are people here who understand your pain and will listen when you are ready to talk, provide advice when you ask for it, offer a shoulder to cry on when you think no one understands, and pick you up when you need it most.

I hope you can find peace with what you've been through. It's not easy; god knows it hasn't been for me and that was 14 years ago. I still struggle with it on a daily basis.

Warm Regards,
Clayton

Hi Chw52, I'm so pleased you found us here.

As you have already seen it is a wonderful place to be. I've made great friends. Members are supportive, understanding and willing to share experiences so that we can all learn.

My PTSD was triggered by a car crash, I am here today because of folk like you. I've lost track of the times someone has said to me that I should have died that day, I didn't because rescue services were so good - thank you. It is an amazing job you do but it comes at a high price.

I hope you find peace and healing. I'm here if you want to chat.

((HUGS)) if you accept them

Hi CHW52.

I to have also lost my family, carrer, friends, memmory and most of all the controll of my mind.

They say you process 60000 thoughts in any given day.

My thoughts were 59998 thoughts of just flash back yuk. The only 2 thoughts i had controll of was 1) God please help mw, and 2) I JUST WANT TO DIE.

Its not that i wanted to jump off the bridge, but just crawl under it and die.

Once i got it that very bad traumatic events have a toll on the mind.
