Some background im a very bad insomniac have been for many years but lately its gotten even worse to the point in awake for up to 5 days... ive tried a tonne of different thing and nothing and im starting to get way more lows and today is the worst i find myself just not caring if i remain alive or not
 
No not really any of the hotlines you call here are extremely unhelpful as for family most of them dont have a clue about my ptsd diagnosis or my extreme sleep issues and its best that remains so..
 
I have found the Samaritans to be a reasonable hotline, lifeline takes too long and seems to be all about just processing you through, I find Samaritans give me the time i need.

It's not an immediate solution but I just completed the MindSpot PTSD course and it has really helped me manage my symptoms, and they understand PTSD, also providing weekly accountability.

Otherwise sleeping tablets.

I'm sorry you are going through this. It is awful.

I have been using ambien for years but doesn't always work. I will sometimes add 1/2 more. I can skip it sometimes. I take pain meds, anti anxiety meds and baclofen for migraines daily which can make me tired if I'm not stressed about something.

I was told by my psychiatrist never to drink caffeine after noon and chocolate can keep me awake. It is very true for me.

I get compulsive on the internet especially when stressed and cannot get myself to bed. I will resort to going to bed in my clothes if I am so tired I can't bear to put on pajamas and can't get off the internet otherwise.

I turn on the computer or TV to listen to something I'm not interested in and shut my eyes and that works. YouTube has sounds like boxfan and other white noise. Some have black screens so no light is added. I've read blue light stimulates your brain to stay awake so hide that on your computer or monitor.

I used to use freesounds.com with recordings of almost anything like streams, birds in the morning, the ocean, storms, the forest at night, crowd noise, etc. It's cool. Just find long ones or a bunch you can automatically play sequentially.
 
I ended up passing out my dog ended up coming and giving me a hug within about 15mins i was asleep i woke up afew times because of nightmares my dog would then snuggle up more and i fell back asleep so not a solid night but atleast got some sleep
