My Meds Were Stolen!

My anti-anxiety medicine was stolen!!! As were some narcotic pain relievers. I heard this is a "popular" crime among criminals these days, because the meds have "street value". BEWARE! LOCK YOUR MEDS UP!

Now I must go through the LONG process of trying to get them replaced... police reports have been made, but now I will need to get copies of them, etc. Then there will be the inevitable battle with the insurance company... SIGH...

Also, they went into my computer and were probably looking for online banking info. I have bank account records all over my home! I will probvably be changing my bank accounts, to be on the safe side.

MAN! I wish I'd never been born....

PLEASE PRAY FOR ME!

Sheila,

It is horrible that someone broke into your home. You are correct about changing your bank accounts and I hope the bank has been notified and has frozen your accounts so you can get that done.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Deb

Me too (praying for you). So very sorry that happened gal. I agree about locking up the meds. I am encouraging our "moms" to do so and just fill their medication dispenser weekly. So far it's been an uphill challenge.

I had my meds stolen also, about a year ago. They were in my purse. I had to freeze everything and get new meds. I was lucky that my pain doc refilled me so I could get them, and of course they wanted my ID when I went to pick up the script and I didn't have one because it was stolen with my purse. I asked if my doc could ID me, and he came out and ID'd me. I feel for you and pray you get things taken care of easily and quickly.

Sorry you have to go through all this, and the stress and anxiety that comes with it.

My son made the mistake of picking up his prescriptions (narcotic pain meds) then leaving them in the pharmacy bag in plain sight in the passenger seat while he went into another store. The were gone when he came out. He had a hell of a time getting them replaced because the doc wasn't sure he believed my son. Insurance was a hassle as well.

My wife has over the years had that happen to her a couple of times. Usually we are VERY careful about leaving them at all in the vehicle, and only do it when absolutely necessary. We put them either behind the seats (pickup truck) or on the floorboard covered.

NEVER leave meds in plain sight or where someone can access them without you seeing - Bathroom med cabinet comes to mind. Even though it's one of the most convenient places to keep your meds, it's also one of the most convenient places for snoops and thieves to find and steal them.

Both my wife and I keep our meds in separate rooms other than the bathroom. We get a glass of water or beverage and take the meds in in the room they are kept.

I'm so sorry, Sheila. I pray you can get them replaced quickly and without too much hassle. And I hope the thieves were thwarted in any attempt to obtain your banking information. Try to get angry....that sounds funny, doesn't it. But better to place the blame where it belongs-on the thieves, rather than try to take it on yourself.

I've been on the phone with the police quite a bit. Also the building manager here. The thief was caught on video tape, as we have video cams in this building. The police will be here Tuesday when the manager is and they will verify the images. Then it will be a waiting game to see how soon they prosecute, as they sometimes wish to do further investigating first, hoping to catch other criminals in the process.

Then will be the court case... I am not thrilled with ANY of this, but I have little say in the matter. I am the innocent bystander and I am not in the driver's seat.

The police said they would not have a report for me until Thursday or maybe later, but they did give me a number where the insurance company can call and verify what I have reported to the police.

Hopefully I will be able to get replacement pills ASAP, as both meds are addicting and I would suffer withdrawl symptoms otherwise. The thief left me 5 pills, so I am rationing them out so as to hopefully be able to weather this storm no matter what.

Then will be all the hassles with my 2 banks, to change into new accounts. AAARRRUUUGGGHHH!!!
