New Here
Hi,
I just got diagnosed with PTSD. I am 48 years old. After a lifetime of suffering and confusion, it's a relief to know what is wrong with me.

I used to live in Portland. For the past 2 years, I have been living about 35 east of Portland, on the Columbia Gorge. A friend has been kind enough to let me stay at his empty house here. It's very beautiful here.Being in nature makes me feel good, although it's isolating here; which is not that good. I try to go into Portland a few times a month.

I have been unemployed for 4 years now. My mental and physical problems make it hard to live a normal life.

I am looking to make friends with people in and around Portland.

Hi bce,
There is a forum on this site for finding friends. I'm sure you'll havebetter luck with responses there. I also live in a beautiful place surrounded by mountains and with a beautiful garden. I love being surrounded by nature but I also have many nice neighbors. Welcome:)

Hi Bce,

Welcome to the forum!

That area of the country is just beautiful, and for so many of us, being out in nature is very healing. Take some time and check out the various articles and posts. PTSD and physical changes do impact a persons life, but it doesn't mean that it will never be "normal" again. "Normal" is a relative term and means different things to different people. Find your new "normal" and that place where you feel comfortable living your own life on your own terms.
